THE YEAR OF, LIKE, REALISING STUFF

Personal realisations.

I've started to realise
that it's okay to put my undies on inside out
and to shrug.
And by that I mean,
it's okay not to care
about certain things.

I've started to realise
that my friends need help too.
And by that I mean,
a text
or a thought
or a coffee.

I've started to realise
that it's nice
to be nice.
And by that I mean,
I hate the way I don't say hi
when I see an old friend on a train.

I've started to realise
that I make myself laugh sometimes.
And by that I mean,
I'm starting to talk to myself
like I would a friend.

I've started to realise
that life is really short,
and I want to kiss the world before I die.
And by that I mean,
I'm only 21
and that I'm already 21.

I've started to realise
that some letters are never responded to
and some are, years later.
And by that I mean,
I met up with an old friend and it was nice.

I've started to realise
that my dreams are real
and I'm only human
and I make mistakes
and I wish people would talk more
and I wish I was more grateful
and I want to be nicer
and I wish I had more time to read
and I think too much
and I smile a lot
and I like my habits
and I want to try ramen
and I want to be in a plane again.
And by that I mean,
I'm still learning to realise things.
